Olympic Games Facts

Facts About The 2016 Olympic Games

WALT: Understand how the Olympic Values are demonstrated in Rio.

Success criteria: I will be able to give minimum of 1 example of the values being shown in Rio.

1. The Summer Olympic Games 2016 will take place from 5th to 21st August in Rio de Janeiro.

2. The opening and the closing ceremony will take place in the Maracana Stadium 

3. It will be the first Olympic Games ever held in South America.

4. Up until today, the Summer Olympics have been held 27 times.

S.C At the Olympics, when the women were running in the 5000m running race a New Zealand woman and a American woman both tripped over. But when the New Zealand woman kept running, the American women fell over again the New Zealand women could have kept running but she came back and helped up the American woman. They might have not came first or in a place but they showed the Olympic Values so they made it to the finals!!!! ( The Olympic Values are Friendship that's what they did in the S.C,  Excellence and Respect )

3. The first Olympic Games (Olympic Games of the antiquity) were held in 776 in Olympia (Greek) and the first Olympic Games of the modern era in 1896 in Athens (Greek)

4. Golf (returning after 112 years) and Rugby (returning after 92 years) will be the “new” sports of the Olympic Games

5. The opening and the closing ceremony will take place in the Maracanã Stadium

 

S.C  When the New Zealand women and the American women, when they tripped over they kept going but when the New Zealand women

My Habitat Collage

WALT: describe different habitats in New Zealand and species that live in them.
                           
S.C I can identify several animals from species groups and the habitats they live in. I can give reasons why they live in this habitat.
I can look at these animals and habitat in a new way by showing my understanding through the art of collage and a written description.

The Earthquakes

On the 22nd of feb 2011 there was one of the most damaging Earthquakes New Zealand has had. Now in 2016 they are still building and reparing buildings. Many people got hurt

Waitangi Day

On tueday the 9th of february we did Waitangi day writing. It was about how the European meeting the Maori.We got to choose if we where the European or Maori and if you where the Maori then you could act like you where them.You had to write your feelings how you would feel if you saw them in real life.For the European you had to write about how you would feel if you saw the Maori.The Maori where very ferce looking people.But they where actually very nice when you got to meet them.
